Art-&-Wellness: Stress Awareness Month (April 2026)

Stress Awareness Month

Stress impacts our lives regularly. What is one way we can cope with stress? Art.

April is Stress Awareness Month and the perfect time to release pressures and stressors. In the middle of busy schedules, responsibilities, and constant noise, it’s easy to forget to check in with ourselves.

Art can be a healthy escape when things feel overwhelming. It gives us a way to release what we’re holding without needing to find the “right” words. Whether you’re painting, doodling, sketching, or simply viewing art that speaks to you, creativity invites you to breathe a little deeper and be present.

This month, we invite you to carve out small, meaningful moments for yourself through art. Maybe that looks like a few quiet minutes with a sketchbook, or joining one of our virtual workshops where you can create with us in a supportive space.

Art of the Month

April’s Art of the Month collection is centered around softness, reflection, and emotional release offering pieces that invite you to slow down and reconnect with yourself. Each artwork in this collection was thoughtfully selected from The Art Spread Online Gallery to reflect the theme of stress awareness, using calming palettes, expressive movement, and honest storytelling.

The Art of the Month collection is intentionally accessible, making it easier to bring meaningful art into your everyday life. When you collect a piece through the Art Spread’s Online Gallery, you are directly investing in artists with adversity and helping us continue to provide free platforms where artists can learn, grow, and connect.

Three Ways To...

Three ways to reduce stress with art

1. Create
Let yourself make art without pressure or expectations. Whether you’re painting, doodling, or playing with color, the act of creating can help release what you’ve been holding in. You don’t need a plan or a perfect finished piece, you just need to express yourself.

2. View
Viewing art encourages you to slow down, breathe, and be present, offering a reset in the middle of a stressful day. Spend a few quiet moments with a piece that draws you in. Notice the colors, textures, and feelings it brings up. Does it help you relax, inspire you to daydream?

To enjoy many different forms of art, visit a local gallery or museum, explore public murals in your community. For more accessible and immediate stress relief, spend a few minutes viewing art in our Online Gallery directly from the comfort of your home.

3. Connect
Art has a powerful way of bringing people together. Join a workshop, share your work with your peers, or experience immersive art alongside others in your community. Connecting through creativity can ease feelings of isolation and remind you that you’re not alone in what you’re feeling.
