Growing up, one of my cousin’s and my favorite pastimes was sitting beside our mothers while they made clothes for us, chatting about everything and everyone. We would play along by mimicking what they were saying and doing, adding our own opinions and sometimes disrupting their flow. We were quite the little rebels – so we thought- at six or seven years old! I miss those innocent, good old times.
Maryam Sedadi was born in Iran and moved to the United States when the Islamic revolution broke out. After graduating with a B.A. in Business Management from California State University, Long Beach, she started her career in banking as a young single mother while caring for her family and raising her son.
Inspired by elements of her Persian culture and heritage, Maryam draws inspiration from daily conversations, observations, lifelong memories and journeys of her life.
