‘Layle is 35 years old. She tattooed the names of her sons on her right hand once she was the captive of ISIS, Adnan & Osman. On her left hand, the tattoo of a date can be seen, the date of ISIS attack to their city that changed their whole destiny. Her husband’s name i.e. Kero was also tattooed on her left hand. She tattooed them using blood, ash and breast milk. By the defeat of ISIS, Adnan, who was their captive to be educated as a force of war, could escape from their base and he found his mother in the camp of refugees. Layle is unaware of her husband and son’s destiny and so is Adnan.’

Shaghayegh Moradiannejad is a social documentary photographer who is fond of narrating women’s stories. The story of women who carry the heavy and severe burden of war on their shoulders.

She attempts to record the long-term effects of war on women and children. This effort was started in Iran and Afghanistan and she intends to continue it in other areas of the world. She would like to announce their suppressed sorrow through her photos.
