‘Hediyeh is 30 years old, when she was a captive of ISIS, she tattooed her husband’s name on her hand with ash and breast milk, she does not know where her husband is and cries for him everyday. She never thought one day she can escape from ISIS forces and she thought to be killed by them. So she decid- ed to tattoo her husband’s name on her hand to both show her love to her husband and to be identified by that name in case of being killed by the ISIS. She was freed from ISIS forces after their fall. She is presently living in the camp of refugees and she does not know anything about her husband.’
Shaghayegh Moradiannejad is a social documentary photographer who is fond of narrating women’s stories. The story of women who carry the heavy and severe burden of war on their shoulders.
She attempts to record the long-term effects of war on women and children. This effort was started in Iran and Afghanistan and she intends to continue it in other areas of the world. She would like to announce their suppressed sorrow through her photos.
