I present a haunting yet captivating full-body portrait of three ambiguous, childlike figures, rendered in evocative black-and-white tones with expressionistic graphite lines. Their postures and the subtle interplay of shadow and light suggest a scene from an era marked by hardship—perhaps a sort of Mexican post-war moment frozen in time. The figures stand together, with two dolls, their gestures imbued with a fragile innocence. One wears an oversized sombrero and gleaming golden shoes, creating a surreal juxtaposition in the scene.

The characters’ expressions, a blend of twisted emotions, part smile and part sorrowful smirk, and the ambiguity of the figures’ genders and identities, intrigue viewers and invite them to unravel the untold story behind the enigmatic presence and hidden mysteries of the represented figures, encouraging a curious contemplation of their origins as well as the “genetic secret” that connects them.

Despite the melancholic ambiance, the colorful glitter accents scattered across the artwork, in the dolls, and in the shoes of one of the characters, inject an uplifting note of hope. These shimmering elements evoke luck, and hope, hinting that even in the bleakest circumstances, there is light to be discovered. The shadows of the figures cast behind them suggest the scene unfolds in daylight, symbolizing clarity and revelation.

The exaggerated and slightly absurd red nose also marks the figures as outsiders—challengers of societal norms—an idea underscored by the title, “A Bad Student.” This tension between comedy and tragedy, joy and sorrow, encapsulates the delicate interplay of childhood playfulness and moments of introspection.

Born in Messina, Italy in 1984, Giuditta’s exploration with art began during childhood, as her parents are both artists, where she became fascinated with graphite drawings.

Throughout Giuditta’s career, her contributions to the world have been recognized by prestigious institutions like Psychology & Counseling Associates, Aedra Fine Arts, and several across Italy. Giuditta is currently working and residing in Berlin, Germany while her work continues to gain international recognition.
