‘Gratitude’ Art-&-Adversity Awareness Workshop (November 2021)

We want to thank everyone who joined our Gratitude  Awareness Event! It was incredible to hear how gratitude influenced art by our very own featured and supporting artists.

Check out the entire event on our Youtube page! We would love to read your comments, and don’t forget to subscribe.

During our event, we talked about Henry Ossawa Tanner, an American artist who was the first African American to receive international success. His piece called “Thankful Poor” exemplified what gratitude meant to him, spiritually and mentally. Henry ultimately left the United States after painting “Thankful Poor” and moved to France, where he adopted a biblical and spiritual genre, making him one of the most sought after artists in France.

I really want to thank featured artists Gray Lew and Rawan Ita for talking at the event about their art collection that was inspired by gratitude. Supporting artist Maryam Sedadi also spoke on how she feels so much gratitude when she sells one of her pieces. Hearing the back story and meaning behind their artwork expanded my perspective and allowed us to connect deeper with the pieces.

As always, leave your comments below and join us for our next event on December 18, 2021 where we will talk about art influencing human rights.
