Our Art & Mental Health Awareness Exhibition was such a special event, thanks to our donors, the City of Santa Ana, our supporters, artists, board and committee members, Chapter One, and everyone who helped make this Exhibition perfect!
The ‘Art & Mental Health Awareness’ Exhibition was meant to bring the community together, highlight the importance of recognizing and talking about mental health, showcase art’s ability to express emotion and thoughts in a healthy and creative way, and share our artists’ stories of adversity reflected in their artwork. We were so happy to achieve our goals and celebrate accomplishments with the community.
Our Artists
The Art Spread is so proud of our artists for showcasing their work to the Orange County community. Everything looked amazing! Our artists had an incredible experience connecting with The Art Spread’s patrons and supporters.
Featured Artist Minju Li, showcased her new work at our exhibition. Her watercolor works quickly grabbed attentions! She sold her new piece “Socal Days” to a resident of Huntington Beach, who claimed Minju’s work reminded him of his beachside community, and bought the art piece for his daughter.
Our newest Featured Artist, Keren Hashalom, debuted her work with The Art Spread. She displayed functional art such as charcuterie boards, tables, and more! Keren spoke with attendee Samir about her artwork, including her beautiful surfboard pieces, perfect for any beach lover.
Artist Azadeh Sarvi exhibited two sculptures and original paintings. Azadeh’s sculptures are painted beautifully and offer a tactile art experience where the art can be felt as well as seen.
Our Supporting Artist, Maryam Sedadi, showcased her collection of collage works on canvas and fine art prints of fan favorite, Frida Kahlo’s ‘Always Sunny In My Head’. Looked amazing ladies!
Supporting Artists Elham & Maryam, and I, finally got a second to sit and pose for a picture. I was inspired by their hard work, relentless effort and conversations with the community during the Exhibition.
Keynote Speaker : Marina Braff, LMFT
As part of our commitment to mental health, our keynote speaker Marina Braff, LMFT, spoke about art and its close relationship with mental health. As a tool to improve mental health, creating art helps put us in a better, calmer mood. Looking at art also stimulates our mind in understanding each piece, and coming up with our own interpretations.
Breath Work Instructor : Azadeh Sarvi
Breath Work Instructor, Yogi, and Artist, Azadeh Sarvi, guided our audience through a five minute exercise. She offered simple and applicable methods to help us stay grounded when feeling anxious, nervous, or afraid. Azadeh shared her knowledge and skills with us, enabling us to use these breathing techniques wherever we may be.
Art & Wellness Care Packages
Our first 20 guests received Art & Wellness Care Packages curated by The Art Spread to share resources on mental health and raise awareness about small businesses. The packages are also loaded with therapeutic goodies, artwork and art supplies to make art and creative expression accessible to everyone!
Free Art Templates
The Art Spread is dedicated to making art accessible to everyone. One way we succeed in that is by offering free art templates on our website. At our exhibition, we printed dozens of art templates and offered free art supplies for the whole family to enjoy!
