All About Stephanie

Meet Artist Stephanie

Inspired by her world travels as a fashion model from Switzerland, Stephanie van Burk combines bold colors with fashion statement pieces. Stephanie’s experience in the fashion industry exposed her to interesting color arrangements and unique styles she discovered around the world. During her modeling career, Stephanie’s passion for fashion grew and she pursued a degree as a fashion designer at the Marangoni Fashion Institute in Milan. Realizing she could blend her fashion experience with her lifelong love for art and color, Stephanie set her sights on California’s coastline.

Now settled in Los Angeles with a thriving studio practice, Stephanie’s art brand, Van Burk Official, has taken California sunshine to the next level with the newest line of brightly hand-painted fashion pieces. Van Burk Official offers one of a kind vegan leather jackets and hand bags in Stephanie’s signature abstract-expressionist style. Stephanie’s work is featured in local art galleries as well as print and online publications.

A statement from Stephanie…

“Wear Your True Colors.” Van Burk Official’s motto stands for equality, human rights, self-confidence, and of course, love.

I always loved drawing, painting, and creating things using bold colors since I was a child. As I grew older, I became a fashion model in my twenties and drew inspiration to create from the places I traveled. Since then, I pursued a new life and found inspiration in California’s colorful natural environment.

I am on a mission that uses color in art to spread love all around me. I encourage everyone to embrace who they are and add their color to the world, one colorful jacket at a time.

Artist Interview – Stephanie

Stephanie shares about her passion, challenges, and inspiration. For her, color has power to heal and artists have the power to spread positivity. Stephanie was interviewed by Nadin Said to tell us a little more about herself.

“What message are you conveying through your work?”

As my jackets are extremely colorful, my message is wear your true colors which stands for self-confidence, equality, human rights and of course love. Some statement pieces that reminds you every time you are wearing them how valuable you are and to keep on kicking it!

I always think how colors have a deep power to heal people as well as bring light and positive energy around you. Creating abstract colorful art on jackets is my ultimate positive giveback to the society.

As creating is a positive form of healing as well. Many others take different routes and I’d like to inspire them in the positive side.

“What emotions are expressed in your art?”

I am a very sensitive person and generally experience a lot of different emotions through all what happens around the world and within myself. I express each one of my feelings through my choice of colors as well through my art.

Anger, frustration, anxiety, depression as well as love, joy and happiness fall onto my jackets with strokes of intense colors.

I believe that expressing my own emotions helps me managing them and balancing them. I heal myself this way. And hope to bring light and healing to others.

“What do you want The Art Spread supporters to take away from your work?”

I want them to wear their true colors! Feeling joy and self confidence as they wear my jackets.

I want them to get inspired to create and heal at the same time.
