Artist Interview – Ken

Through this exclusive interview with Ken, experience how his art speaks for endangered species while encouraging others to find strength and healing in their own creative expression.

“How do you align with The Art Spread’s mission of transforming lives through art?”

My work on aligns with The Art Spread’s mission of transforming lives through art by using visual storytelling as a powerful tool for awareness, healing, and activism. Through vibrant, Afrofuturist-inspired imagery and narrative-driven pieces, I aim to spotlight underrepresented communities, challenge social injustices, and reimagine cultural identity.

Each artwork is designed not just to be seen, but to spark conversation, educate, and inspire action—especially among youth and marginalized groups. By blending creative expression with advocacy, my art contributes to a larger movement of using creativity to drive meaningful social change.

“What is your latest project/what are you currently working on?”

My latest project is The Endangered Series, a collection of vivid animal portraits dedicated to raising awareness about species on the brink of extinction. Each piece highlights the beauty and fragility of these creatures, using color, symbolism, and storytelling to spark emotional connection.

Through this series, we aim to educate the public, inspire action, and directly support wildlife conservation efforts.

A portion of proceeds from the artwork goes toward organizations actively protecting endangered species, making art a powerful tool for advocacy and real-world impact.

“What message do you convey in your work?”

In my work, I strive to convey messages of resilience, identity, and justice—using art as both a mirror and a catalyst for change. Whether I’m highlighting endangered species, reimagining historical narratives, or exploring cultural symbolism, my goal is to raise awareness, spark conversation, and inspire action. I believe that visual storytelling has the power to heal, to provoke thought, and to mobilize communities toward a more compassionate and equitable world.

“Who emotions are expressed in your work?”

The emotions expressed in my work range from hope and empowerment to urgency and reflection. I aim to evoke a sense of connection—to the self, to others, and to the world around us. In pieces like The Endangered Series, there’s a quiet grief and urgency for what we risk losing, but also a call to action rooted in love and care. Across all my work, I seek to create a balance between beauty and truth, evoking emotions that stay with the viewer and inspire deeper awareness and empathy.

“Is making art accessible important to you as an artist?”

Absolutely. Making art accessible is essential to me—not just in terms of who can view or experience it, but also who feels empowered to create it. Through The Books of Egu, I strive to break down barriers by sharing stories, visuals, and interactive media that reflect diverse communities and voices.

Whether through public exhibitions, educational workshops, or digital platforms, I want my art to reach people from all walks of life and inspire them to see themselves as part of the creative conversation. Art should not be a luxury—it should be a shared language of expression, awareness, and transformation.

“How can we support you?”

You can support me by sharing and engaging with the work at The Books of Egu, attending exhibitions or events, and helping spread the message behind our projects—especially our Endangered Series. Support can also come through partnerships, donations to help fund conservation efforts, purchasing artwork, or booking workshops that use art to raise awareness and inspire action.
