‘MasterPeace: K-12 Juried Art Show’ (April 2025)

“Every child is an artist.” Picasso’s simple yet profound statement inspired this year’s MasterPeace K-12 Juried Art Show, a collaboration between The Art Spread and Villages of California. With over 70 talented participants from schools across Anaheim, MasterPeace became more than an art show—it became a movement to empower, encourage, and engage our youth through healthy creative expression.

MasterPeace invited students K-12 to explore the question: What does peace mean to you?
Whether it was through vibrant color, thoughtful composition, or bold imagination, each student had the opportunity to visually interpret how they “master peace.” Their artwork sparked conversations, connected families and neighbors, and brought our community together in an inspiring and meaningful way.

Our talented and dedicated judges generously contributed their time, expertise, and care to selecting first, second, and third place winners from each age group. They spent hours thoughtfully reviewing each artwork and engaging in careful deliberation. Humbled by the process, they truly enjoyed every single piece and were inspired by the creativity on display. Thank you to Carol Latham of Muzeo Museum of Cultural Center, Elham Sarvi – Supporting Artist of The Art Spread, and Carla Roque – Illustrator and Muralist.

The event was filled with smiling faces, tears of gratitude, and a great sense of accomplishment. Families gathered to celebrate their children’s art, counselors were filled with pride, and young artists reached new heights of confidence. It was a night full of connection, laughter, and heartfelt celebration.

A precious moment was awarding each participant with certificates of recognition from the City of Anaheim, honoring their artistic talent and their courage to share their voice. A special thank you to Kristen Maahs for helping make this moment possible. The smiles, cheers, and joy from our young artists were unforgettable.

As we reflect on the success of this year’s show, we are reminded why events like MasterPeace matter. They create brave, joyful spaces where youth feel valued, seen, and empowered – regardless of age or background.

MasterPeace brought The Art Spread’s vision to life for the youth in our community; inspiring every artist to achieve their goals, providing access to the arts for every community, and bringing awareness to every art piece telling a story.

Here’s to continuing to uplift the voices of children through art – and to many more MasterPeace moments to come.
